Description
Improving the sound of the Ford Raptor 3.5L EcoBoost is something every owner wants in their truck. Unlike the older 6.2L V8, the twin turbocharged engine just doesnt have that growl Raptor owners are looking for. Some exhausts try to provide this improved sound with having straight open pipes but all this does is cause immense drone for a daily driver. VR Performance has come up with the best solution for a catback exhaust on the Ford Raptor 3.5L EcoBoost.
To provide Raptor owners with a louder, more free flowing tone when they want it, or have a comfortable cruise on the highway, the VR Performance valvetronic exhaust is the answer. Vivid Racing has been manufacturing and distributing valvetronic style exhausts since 2009. Valvetronic refers to the ability with a flip of a switch or press of a remote button, an electronic valve is operated to change the direction of the exhaust flow. With turbocharged vehicles, you really do not need any restriction. In fact dumping the exhaust right out of the turbochargers would help produce extremely fast turbo spool and increase torque and horsepower. However driving around like this would be obnoxiously loud.
The exhaust has been designed in-house here in Gilbert, Arizona using 3D scanning and modeling techniques. A prototype was built and tested on our own 2020 Ford Raptor with over 10,000 miles of use. The exhaust is made of 304 stainless steel that has been meticulous TIG welded and then bead blasted for a unique finish. The exhaust bolts up to the factory downpipes allowing you to use our system with other components. The complete catback is made of 2 parts with the first section featuring the valvetronic component. From the downpipes, we connect using a OEM size 2.75 inch slip fit connector on the passenger side and donut gasket on the right. The piping then changes to 3 inch for the best possible flow when the valves are open. When the valve is opened, exhaust gases will come right out of the center merged down tube offering an intense sound. When the valve is closed, the exhaust flow continues on to the secondary high flow muffler to keep the sound tame but improved. This muffler connects with slip fit connectors using 2.75 inch piping. The exhaust system is designed to use the OEM rear over axle tip sections. If you are feeling spicy and have an aftermarket rear bumper, you can make some simple turn downs for that trophy truck style!
The valvetronic system is controlled with an electronically controlled valve. This requires running a wire from the exhaust valve, up into the cab of your truck. It is the owner’s preference to use the included 12 volt accessory plug or you can wire this directly into ignition power on your fuse box. The valvetronic kit includes 2 remote keyfobs to open or close the valves at your discretion. Each kit includes necessary hardware for installation.
