“Turkey gobble”, “dove call”, “wastegate chatter”, or “dose”, if you live among kangaroos. All different names for the same phenomenon: compressor surge. Compressor surge might sound cool when you let off the throttle, but what you’re hearing is the rapid slowing of your turbocharger’s compressor. This brutal deceleration puts a tremendous amount of force on the compressor wheel, shaft, and bearings. With high-boost pressures, compressor surge can cause rapid wear and damage to your turbo.
The best solution to compressor surge is to prevent it with a high-quality blow-off valve. This Mishimoto blow off valve features a 50mm piston and vent-to-atmosphere design that quickly and effectively releases pressure from the intake system, preventing it from making its way back to your turbo. The billet-aluminum body and piston are precision CNC-machined to provide durable and reliable performance for even the most demanding turbo systems.
The Mishimoto 50mm Blow Off Valve features high-quality Viton O-rings to effectively seal in boost pressure until you’re ready to release it. The included 90-degree and straight boost reference fittings allow you to easily plumb a 6mm (1/4-inch) plastic line to your intake manifold, and our available setup springs let you tune your blow off valve for optimum performance. The valve comes pre-assembled with a blue spring to suit vehicles with 5.07-7.25 PSI of idle vacuum. To make mounting easy, our blow off valve is available with a 50mm (2-inch) hose connection or a pre-coped aluminum v-band mount to fit 2.5” or 3.0” piping
